The Studio
A home should reflect the people who live in it.
CRB Design Co. is an independent residential design and drafting studio in Vernon, British Columbia, founded and led by Cordell Maguire. When you work with the studio, you work directly with him, from the first conversation through to construction drawings.
What we stand for
Homes with considered proportions and a character of their own.
We believe a home should reflect the people who live in it and make the most of the place it belongs. Our work helps clients explore the possibilities in their property and develop a home with considered proportions, thoughtful layouts, and a character of its own.
That approach runs through our projects - from developing a kit-home concept into the distinctive dual A-frame form of Twin Peaks, to refining the Silver Star Addition in collaboration with its builder. In Coldstream, a kitchen and deck consultation became an opportunity to reimagine an unused parking area and bring new cohesion to the home's exterior.
Design & construction
Thoughtful design. Practical understanding.
Our construction knowledge informs the design from the outset, helping us explore ideas with an understanding of how they can be carried through.
Construction Ready Building
Where vision meets structure.
CRB began with Cordell's initials and carries a second meaning: Construction Ready Building. It reflects our belief that a beautiful home deserves drawings as thoughtfully resolved as the design itself - giving builders, consultants, and trades a clear understanding of the intent and details.
Working with the studio
It begins with conversation.
We start by understanding how you live, what you value, and what you hope your home can become. From there, ideas are brought forward, alternatives considered, and the decisions shaping your design are explained along the way.
Because Cordell works directly with every client through design development and construction documentation, the person developing your home understands the priorities behind it and the reasoning behind each decision.
Collaboration
Builders and consultants.
Our drawings are prepared so builders, consultants, and trades understand the intent and the details. Some projects begin with the builder, as the Silver Star Addition did with Reico Construction.
Engineers, surveyors and other consultants are engaged independently where a project requires them, and the studio coordinates the design with their input.

An understanding built through experience
Cordell's interest in building began at a young age, helping his father with finish carpentry. That early experience introduced him to the care, precision, and craftsmanship that shape how a finished space looks and feels.
He later moved into residential building before returning to school to study Civil Engineering Technology at Loyalist College. Working on homes gave him a practical foundation for those studies and the technical design work that followed.
He brings more than ten years of construction industry experience, including extensive work in truss and engineered wood product design, and has reviewed countless building plans. He understands how decisions on paper affect the people responsible for building them.
That background continues to inform his residential design approach. He considers both the overall character of a home and how its details come together, connecting design decisions with an understanding of the work required to carry them out.
